New Comics Wednesday – 9/21/11

Wow… been a while since I did this! Anyhow, let’s get to it! Batman #1 is obviously the one that folks are going to go nuts about this week, as it’s written by Scott Snyder and thus ludicrously well-written. I have enough copies for folders, but I guarantee you that I *will* sell out by Thursday, along with, honestly, most of the rest of the New 52. (Green Lantern Corps, Blue Beetle, Birds of Prey, Captain Atom, Legion, Nightwing, Red Hood, Catwoman.) If you want them, hurry.

But yes, there are MORE comics coming out that aren’t produced by DC! The biggest this week is Game of Thrones #1 by Dynamite, which I brought in a hojillion copies of just because I think it’s going to be nuts. If you’re into variants, I have a non-lettered Alex Ross cover variant coming that should be super sweet! ($25.) There are also 1-10 variants available for $10.

Marvel published a few comics this week too! Several X-titles, including Schism and adjectiveless X-Men, and we’ve also got Avengers and four (!) Fear Itself mini releases.

New Comics Wednesday – 8/3/11

Another fine week! The time around, we’ve got Flashpoint #4, with a herd of its associated tie-ins (especially the Knight of Vengeance tie-in, which has been nothing short of spectacular!) The other big news is Punisher #1, which is part of the “Big Shots” street level campaign Marvel’s wrapping up this month. After the whole “Frankencastle” thing, I’m pretty stoked about Frank getting a fresh start with a new creative team, so let’s see what happens!

By the way… if you didn’t know, we have a high-grade copy of the first appearance of Punisher available at the store. If you’re a Punisher fan, it’s a magnificent way to show your love!

New Comics Wednesday – 7/20/11

Time for a ton of new comics, including a regular herd of special $1 issues that introduce some of DC’s most popular trade paperback series! There’s nearly 10 tie-ins this week to the Fear Itself event, including the Avengers main title; for DC, we’ve got the first issues of the War of the Green Lanterns Aftermath, which, considering the events of last week, should be nothing short of amazing!

New Comics Wednesday – 7/13/11

The big news for this week is the relaunch of Captain America, starting fresh with #1! In addition to the regular Cap, there’s several Cap variants available, including one with art from the upcoming movie as well as a ‘blank’ variant that’s great to take to conventions for sketches! Also, X-Men – Schism #1 is out this week, and it’s looking like Utopia’s about to have a lot of purple/salmon colored visitors…

While we didn’t have any to spare for the shelf, having read it, Green Lantern #67 is a *stunner.* If you’re a GL fan with a folder, come grab it ASAP… you won’t regret it! I’ll be reordering several shelf copies immediately so anyone who’s curious can find out what happens!

In other Marvel news, there’s *tons* of Fear Itself tie-ins. I got a chance to check out the FI Spider-Man tie-in, and it’s an extremely poignant end to the miniseries that really brings home a lot of the overall impact of the Fear Itself event. Amazing Spider-Man is likewise great, and resonates a great deal with those familiar with Peter Parker’s backstory.

Yeah, that’s a lot of great stuff! Full list below the cut.
(oh, and Jessica… yes, Lady Mechanika #2 is out. Finally!)

New Comics Wednesday – 7/6/11

What a monster week! Both Flashpoint and Fear Itself main titles have new entries (#3 and #4, respectively) and there’s a ton more of series tie-ins where that came from! Uncanny X-Force #1, Wolverine #1, and four Flashpoint tie-ins have all arrived to fill your summer comic blockbusterlust.

We’ve got a few notable #1s as well, including Elric #1, Mysterious Ways and Red Skull (which promises to be great!)

New Comics Wednesday – 6/8/11

Before we get into the regular lot, we’ve got a couple of sweet trades in this week – the 5 Ronin hardcover and the acclaimed Batwoman Elegy: collected edition (finally!) Elegy, in particular, was hugely popular during its run in Detective, and I’m looking very forward to her ongoing when it releases!

In individuals, we’ve got more awesome buttons for the Flashpoint tie-ins, including Deathstroke, Citizen Cold and Frankenstein. Fear Itself has a couple of new releases this week, with the start of the Deadpool and Fearsome Four miniseries. Outside of tie-ins, there’s also the opening issue of Ghost Rider (a .1 issue, with an incredible cover), as well as Green Lantern movie prequel issues for Kilowog and Tomar-Re.

New Comics Wednesday – 5/25/

Wow… what a week for Green Lantern! This week brings us three entries in the War of Green Lanterns saga, with all three Green Lantern titles releasing in the same week! There’s not a ton else coming out this week in the face of the Lantern onslaught, but there’s one new series that caught my eye (and maybe yours too): the $1 Kirby Genesis #0! Using some of Jack Kirby’s old comic properties, Genesis puts new life into the old works of the fabled comics creator… so I’m interested to see how it pans out.
