Fetchland Tourney II – March 6, 10 a.m.!

Well, the first one did pretty dang well… so let’s do it again! For those of you who missed our first one on Jan. 16, we’re going to do a SECOND Fetchland tournament on Saturday, March 6. If you don’t remember, we gave away a playset of every ‘fetch’ (or ‘sac’ land, if you prefer) from the Zendikar set to the first place winner and two playsets to second place; third and fourth got one playset each. I thought March 6 would be a great time for the event – it’s the weekend after the Richmond 5K, and will be our best opportunity to see how the Standard environment’s developing post-Worldwake.

(In case you’re curious, the five cards in question are Arid Mesa, Marsh Flats, Misty Rainforest, Scalding Tarn and Verdant Catacombs.

More details below the cut! 🙂 Remember, registration is at 10 a.m., tourney starts at noon!

This will be a Standard Constructed tournament at noon on Jan. 16, with registration beginning at 10 a.m. We’re anticipating six Swiss rounds and a cut to the top eight competitors, which means we’ll probably be running until around 8 p.m.

Entry will be $15, and here’s the prizes:

First place: A playset of every fetch land in Zendikar: 4x Misty Rainforest, 4x Arid Mesa, 4x Scalding Tarn, 4x Marsh Flats, 4x Verdant Catacombs.

Second place: Two playsets OF YOUR CHOICE of Zendikar fetch lands.

Third and fourth place: A playset of OUR choice of Zendikar fetch lands. (We’ll try to accommodate requests, but this will be prized out based on stock levels.)

The remainder of the Top 8 – places 5-8 – will receive five packs of boosters of any Standard-legal set!

In addition, we’ll be running side events all day – 8-person drafts (8 packs to winner, 4 to loser,) and win-a-box Standard Constructed ($14 and $13, respectively), and also have plenty of cards available to fill out your last-minute needs! (yes, even more fetch lands!)

It’s possible that we could work again with Laurel Mountain Eatery, the cafe that I share my building with, to stay open during the tournament for overflow. I’ll update as I learn more.

If you’ve got any questions, feel free to call me at (865) 521-0690 or drop an e-mail to owner@organizedplay.org!
