D&D Encounters – Starting March 16!

There’s an exciting new promotion starting for 4th Edition D&D players – D&D Encounters! Like Friday Night Magic, D&D Encounters is designed to get players to converge on a game shop – like mine! – on a single night a week. In the case of Encounters, that night will be Wednesday!

“But, D&D takes, like, five hours to play!” some might say. Well, not in the case of Encounters! Each Wednesday is a new, single, separate ‘encounter’ that ties into an overall season’s campaign – so each night will only take an hour or two, tops! For participating, players will receive renown points that can benefit their character.

I don’t know much further about the program yet, other than that we’re likely the only place in the Knoxville area that will be participating, and the details above. If you want a bit more, I’ve copied/pasted the official announcement from Wizards of the Coast after the cut!

” Today, at D&D Experience, Wizards of the Coast announced D&D Encounters, an in-store weekly adventure series coming soon to Wizards Play Network retail locations worldwide.

Go on epic adventures in new settings with new monsters every Wednesday. Each week, you will be rewarded Renown Points for accomplishments made both in-game and out-of-game, which earn you exclusive rewards that you can apply to your current and future D&D Encounters characters. D&D Encounters seasons rotate every few months, giving you the opportunity to try a new adventure setting multiple times per year!

The first D&D Encounters season takes place in the Forgotten Realms, exploring new areas of the iconic dungeon known as Undermountain. Play with your own character or with pre-generated characters provided in-store.

As the season progresses, there will be new content and an exciting encounter every Wednesday. Throughout the D&D Encounters season, be sure to check out the Wizards Community site to share your experience with other players from around the world. In addition, enhance your D&D Encounters play experience by getting special content updates and news through our official Twitter channel and our D&D Facebook page.

Getting involved in D&D Encounters opens the door for you to mingle with other local gamers and help your store enter exclusive contests to earn prizes and swag to enhance your game store experience. Detailed information will be available soon so be sure to check back in to find out how to participate.”
