2,500 Visitors!

Wow! You like us, you really like us! Or, at least, you need to check our website a whole bunch for the hours we’re open and directions to get here.  Or you’re our parents who like to check and see what the store’s doing (Hi Mom!).  No matter, yesterday we hit 2,500 visits to this humble website.  Considering we first opened our doors to all of you during Labor Day weekend, that’s only been about 7 weeks.  Not even two months!  Again, wow!

And we’re still improving.  Here are some of the things that you can look forward to in the next few weeks:

  • Lockers – The people have asked for lockers to store cards and books, and we have located some.  They’ll be coming in during the next week or so, watch the twitter or more details.
  • Minis – In addition to organizing and pricing the pile of DnD minis we keep behind the counter, we will be carrying some paintable minis and an introductory selection of painting supplies.  If we don’t have what you’re looking for, just let us know and we can order it for you.
  • Child’s Play – The details are being worked out, but we want to host some events that will raise money for Child’s Play, a unique nation-wide charity that brings games to children facing long-term hospital stays.  Some ideas being tossed around: gamer-cookie baking contest/sale, matching gifts from the store, grabbing you by the ankles and shaking you upside down and taking the change that falls to the ground.  Any other suggestions?
  • Community Involvement – We LOVE being part of the Downtown community, and we love to help out where we can.  So if there are any Knoxville or UT groups that are looking for, say, a gift certificate or two for a silent auction, as an award, or similar, come talk to us.  We’ll see what we can do with what we have.
  • More games – We’re getting more shelves, so we need to fill them.  Any requests?  Want to give something special for a holiday present?  Seriously, if there are any games you want us to carry just leave a comment, tweet us ( @organizedplay – in the sidebar), email us at owner -at- organizedplay – dot- com, or give us a call.  We can usually get special requests within the week, and we’ll tell you if it will take longer.
  • More comics – Our first Diamond Comics order came in this week, so we have our first set of Marvel/DC/Image/Dark Horse comics.  More will come in next Wednesday (of course).  We will also be adding to our selection of independently published comics.  Do you want us to start a pull box for you? Just ask!
  • More (cushy) chairs – We would love to have some cushy chairs so people can settle in when checking out the RPG books and comics.  We’re keeping an eye out for some that go with our brick decor and are CLEAN.  We’ve been checking the thrift stores.  But if you know anyone who is moving or upgrading and wants to get rid of their snazzy, comfy, and CLEAN love-seat or armchair tell them about us.
  • More fun – All of us that you see working at the store are having a blast.  We love being part of the Downtown Knoxville community!  We are committed to providing the best gaming experience that you can find in Knoxville, whether you are a hardcore Magic player drafting here every week, a casual board-gamer who drops by for board game Sundays, or even if you want to try out Dungeons and Dragons or Pathfinder.  To add to our already busy schedule, we will soon be starting World of Warcraft collectable card game events as well as Legend of the 5 Rings CCG events.  And at the end of the month, we will be hosting the US premiere of Claire and Nathan Presnall’s zombie movie Brotherly Love.

Thank you, everyone!
